Gold Medal Services
Gold Medal Services knows more about Northern Territory hydraulic infrastructure than any other contractor.
More than thirty years. Zero reportable safety incidents. Hundreds of projects across Defence estates, government facilities, and commercial and industrial developments.
This is the knowledge base that government project managers and commercial developers rely on when infrastructure failure isn’t an option.
Our team has mapped and maintained the underground hydraulic networks of RAAF Darwin and RAAF Tindal. We’ve delivered emergency environmental remediation for oil and gas facilities operating under strict safety protocols. We’ve upgraded water mains, pump stations and wet fire protection systems for schools, universities and government departments across the Territory.
We conduct asset condition assessments that guide engineering consultants on project scoping and cost estimates. When Charles Darwin University needed a reliable hydraulic services partner across all Darwin and Alice Springs campuses, the five-year contract came to us.
This depth of experience didn’t happen overnight. Since 1996, Gold Medal Services has systematically expanded capability to meet the Territory’s growing infrastructure needs. Strategic partnerships brought fire protection and electrical services in-house.
Investment in CCTV inspection technology, hydro excavation equipment, CertLoc (previously known as Dial Before You Dig) services, and job management systems enabled us to take on larger, more complex projects. Commitment to training built a team with a 70% retention rate over the past 14 years, creating institutional knowledge that can’t be replicated quickly.
When we started in 1996, the focus was straightforward: deliver reliable plumbing services to Darwin businesses and facilities. The work was solid, the relationships strong, but the projects were primarily maintenance-focused.
As the Northern Territory’s commercial and industrial sectors expanded, so did the complexity of infrastructure challenges.
Defence required contractors who could navigate security protocols and deliver work without operational disruption. Oil and gas facilities needed partners who understood environmental compliance and high-risk site procedures. Government departments sought contractors with the project management capability to handle large-scale infrastructure upgrades.
Gold Medal Services made a deliberate choice: transform from a maintenance contractor into a strategic infrastructure partner.
The transformation demanded investment in people, equipment and systems. We built partnerships with specialists in fire protection and electrical services. We acquired advanced diagnostic equipment for CCTV inspections and hydro excavation capabilities for complex underground work.
We developed safety and quality management systems that met the stringent requirements of Defence, oil and gas, and government clients. Since 2002, we’ve delivered Defence Base hydraulic services across the Northern Territory, building over 22 years of on-base expertise.
Most importantly, we invested in our team. With over 70 years of collective hydraulic infrastructure knowledge across our senior staff alone, and a company-wide retention rate of 70% over the past 14 years, we’ve built expertise that can’t be replicated quickly.
When a project manager calls asking about a specific pump station we worked on eight years ago, our team remembers the job, the challenges, and the solutions.
In 30+ years of operation, Gold Medal Services has maintained zero reportable safety incidents. Not one.
Across hundreds of projects, high-risk sites, and complex work environments, our safety record remains unblemished. This isn’t luck. It’s the result of established safety, quality, environmental and risk management systems that have been tested and refined across Defence estates, oil and gas facilities, and government infrastructure projects.
Our team understands that for clients like Santos Darwin LNG, Inpex, and Defence, safety isn’t negotiable.
Our environmental record matches our safety commitment: zero environmental incidents in 30+ years of operation. When we’re working on PFAS-contaminated sites or environmentally controlled areas like the Darwin Aquaculture Centre, our systems and procedures ensure compliance without compromise.
The industry has recognised our approach:
These awards reflect our commitment to developing the next generation of trades professionals. We invest 4.5% of payroll directly into training.
For us, this investment isn’t about awards. It’s about ensuring the Territory has the skilled workforce needed for increasingly complex infrastructure projects.
Gold Medal Services operates from a modern warehouse facility in Berrimah, with hydraulic service capabilities extending from Darwin to Alice Springs. We maintain a fleet of well-equipped service vehicles and employ over 30 qualified professionals who live and work in the Territory.
Completing over 4500 individual jobs annually, we’ve built systems and processes that ensure consistent delivery without compromising quality.
This local presence matters. When Defence needs emergency hydraulic support, when a government department faces an infrastructure failure, when a commercial developer needs rapid assessment of existing systems, response time counts.
We’re here, we know the sites, and we understand the Territory’s unique regulatory and environmental context.
Our client relationships reflect this commitment. Over 95% of our business comes from repeat clients who rely on us as their preferred supplier. They return because we deliver on commitments, provide frank advice with their best interests in mind and invest the time to understand the unique operational environment of each facility we serve.
The Northern Territory’s infrastructure needs continue to evolve. Major developments, Defence expansion, and government infrastructure upgrades create opportunities for contractors with the technical capability, safety systems, and institutional knowledge to deliver complex projects.
Gold Medal Services is positioned for that future. Our partnerships provide integrated fire protection, electrical, and hydraulic services across commercial, industrial, and government sectors.
Our equipment and systems enable us to take on increasingly sophisticated diagnostic and remediation work. Our team brings decades of Territory-specific knowledge to every project.
We built our reputation on delivering reliable maintenance services. We’re growing it by delivering strategic solutions for the Territory’s most complex infrastructure challenges.
Government and commercial organisations trust Gold Medal Services to coordinate multi-trade projects without operational disruption.
